Russia, the world’s largest poultry importer, may halt its imports of this product from the U.S. state of Michigan, because a swan infected with avian influenza (bird flu) was discovered their last week, the country’s Federal Veterinary Service said on Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Aug. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Bird flu killed a 9-year-old girl in the same area of Indonesia where a teenager caught the virus days earlier, and officials are checking for signs of human-to- human transmission, Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said.
