Hogeye- Thousands of chickens have been destroyed after a strain of the avian flu was detected at a Northwest Arkansas farm. Officials have a staging area set up in Hogeye, just North of Strickler where the contaminated birds were found to search out non-commercial poultry for testing.

The Government of Canada is committed to preventing the introduction of avian influenza in Canada's domestic poultry flocks. Canada's 2007 Interagency Wild Bird Influenza Survey confirmed no findings of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Canada's wild bird population.
