H5N1 strikes another Egyptian child Egypt's health ministry said yesterday that a 6-year-old boy from Qalyubiya governorate, just north of Cairo, is hospitalized in critical condition and on a ventilator with an H5N1 avian influenza infection, Egypt-based Strengthening Avian Influenza Detection and Response (SAIDR) reported yesterday.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ A bird flu-related quarantine has been lifted on 22 poultry farms in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver. The restrictions were lifted after three weeks of surveillance and testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has lifted all remaining movement restrictions on birds and bird products in southern British Columbia. No additional cases of avian influenza were found during extensive testing of commercial poultry in the area.
